Oba Mikuriya

Japanese:
Oba Mikuriya

The Mikuriya of Ise Shrine was established in Obago-go, Takakura-gun, Sagami Province (Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture). Kamakura Gongoro Kagemasa (Kagemasa) developed the mountains and fields within Obago-go and donated them to Ise Shrine in 1117 (Eikyu 5) as a Mikuriya. After that, Kagemasa's descendants inherited the position of Geshi-shiki and called themselves the Obago clan. The four borders of the area were Matano River to the east, the sea to the south, Kamigo to the west, and Omakisaki to the north. The area of the fields was 95 cho in the mid-12th century, and later it became about 150 cho. Since it was originally a kokumenchi (provincially exempt land), it was constantly at risk of being confiscated by the kokushi, but it eventually became a chomenchi (provincially exempt land) and stabilized. Shortly after this, in 1145 (Kyuan 1), Minamoto no Yoshitomo invaded the Kugenuma district of Mikuriya and attempted to seize the land, but was unsuccessful. The details of this incident are known from the Tenyo-ki.
