Year of death: Tenpyo Houji 1.7 (757) Year of birth: Year of birth unknown. An official from the Nara period. Nephew of Tabito. Also written as Gomaro. In 730, as Jibu Shojo, he went to Kyushu with Inano Kimi to receive his will when Dazai no Sochi Tabito fell ill. He is also said to have joined the Japanese mission to Tang China that departed in 730, and in 741 he was promoted to Junior Fifth Rank. In 750, he was a deputy Japanese mission to Tang China. In 754, he received a farewell gift from his relative Kojihi's house and traveled to Tang China. In January 755, he competed for seating with the Silla envoys at the Tang Dynasty's ceremony, and was successful in gaining the top spot. On the way back, he hid from ambassador Fujiwara no Kiyokawa, who was afraid of being discovered by the Tang authorities, and returned home with Ganjin and others on his own ship. In 76, he was appointed Left Grand Bencher and promoted to Junior Fourth Rank. In 757, when Prince Doso was deposed as Crown Prince, he supported Prince Ikeda against Prince Shioyaki who was supported by Fujiwara Toyonari and others, but Fujiwara no Nakamaro supported Prince Oi (Emperor Junnin). In the same year, he was appointed as Mutsu Chinju Shogun and Mutsu Ansatsushi, but he was a central member of the Tachibana Naramaro Incident (757) and died under the rod of torture. 没年:天平宝字1.7(757) 生年:生年不詳 奈良時代の官人。旅人のおい。胡麻呂とも書く。天平2(730)年治部少丞で,大宰帥旅人が一時病臥したとき,遺言を受けに稲公と共に九州に赴いた。のち5年発の遣唐使に加わったともされ,17年従五位下に。天平勝宝2(750)年,遣唐副使。4年同族古慈斐の家で餞を受け唐に渡る。5年1月の唐朝の朝賀では新羅使と席次を争い上席の獲得に力あった。帰途,唐官憲への発覚を恐れる大使藤原清河に隠れて鑑真らを自船に乗せ帰国。6年左大弁に任じ,正四位下に昇叙。天平宝字1(757)年道祖王が皇太子を廃されると藤原豊成らが推す塩焼王に対し池田王を推したが,藤原仲麻呂による大炊王(淳仁天皇)擁立となった。同年陸奥鎮守将軍を兼ね陸奥按察使とされるが,橘奈良麻呂の変(757)の中心メンバーとして,拷問の杖下に死んだ。 (佐藤信) 出典 朝日日本歴史人物事典:(株)朝日新聞出版朝日日本歴史人物事典について 情報 |
