A town in Itano County in the northeastern part of Tokushima Prefecture. The main settlement, Banzai, developed as a key transportation hub where the Muya Highway and the Sanuki Highway, which leads to Sanuki via the Osaka Pass, intersect, and the Kotoku Line passes through. The town produces a lot of vegetables, and is known for its pickled radish, shiitake mushrooms, and matsutake mushrooms. Area: 36.22 km2 . Population: 14,241 (2010).
