The Japanese era name (nengo). It was the era name of Emperor Gotsuchimikado from 1489 to 1492 during the Muromachi period ( Sengoku period). The previous era name was Chokyo . The era name was Meio. The era name was changed on August 21, 1489 ( Chokyo 3). It was done to put an end to the misfortunes of natural disasters ( saiai era name). The name is based on Mencius. The shoguns of the Muromachi shogunate during the Entoku era were Ashikaga Yoshihisa (9th shogun ) and Ashikaga Yoshitane (10th shogun ). Ashikaga Yoshimasa (8th shogun), who handed over the position of shogun to his heir Yoshihisa in 1473 (Bunmei 5), began construction of Higashiyama Palace in 1482 (Bunmei 14) and moved there the following year. The topping-out ceremony was held in 1489 (Entoku 1). After Yoshimasa's death in 1490 (Entoku 2), Higashiyama Palace was turned into a temple ( Jishoji ) to commemorate his soul, and today it is commonly known as "Ginkakuji." 日本の元号(年号)。室町時代(戦国時代)の1489年から1492年まで、後土御門(ごつちみかど)天皇の代の元号。前元号は長享(ちょうきょう)。次元号は明応(めいおう)。1489年(長享3)8月21日改元。天災の凶事を断ち切るために行われた(災異改元)。『孟子(もうし)』を出典とする命名。延徳年間の室町幕府の将軍は足利義尚(よしひさ)(9代)、足利義稙(よしたね)(10代)。1473年(文明5)に嗣子の義尚に将軍職を譲った足利義政(よしまさ)(8代)は、1482年(文明14)から東山殿の造営を開始し、翌年に移り住んだ。その上棟式が1489年(延徳1)に行われている。東山殿は1490年(延徳2)の義政の死後、その菩提を弔うための寺院(慈照(じしょう)寺)とされ、今日では「銀閣寺」という通称で広く知られている。
