The horn core is a type of horn found in bovids, consisting of a hollow horny sheath (horn sheath) and a bony core (horn core) that connects to the skull. It grows in one pair on the frontal or parietal bone, or rarely two pairs (in the four-horned antelope). As the horn sheath grows, a new layer forms on its inside, and the old layer is pushed upward but does not fall off. …
