Ooto Kiyokami

He was a master of the flute in the early Heian period. He was a flute master at the Gagaku-ryo. He composed "Jusui-raku" and "Oten-raku" for the enthronement ceremony of Emperor Ninmyo (834), and also revised "Ama", "Konju", and "Seijoraku" (also called "Seijoraku"), which he named after himself. Together with Owari no Hamanushi, he contributed to the reform of the musical system at the time. When Emperor Ninmyo visited Shinsen-en, there was a boat music performance, and he composed "Kaiseiraku" with the hichiriki master Harimaro, following an imperial order, while the boat was making its rounds. In 838 (Jowa 5), ​​he went to China as a Japanese envoy with the biwa player Fujiwara Sadatoshi and others, but was shipwrecked on his way back to Japan in August of the following year and killed by pirates in the South Seas.

平安初期の笛の名手。雅楽寮の笛師。仁明(にんみょう)天皇の御即位大嘗会(だいじょうえ)（834）に『拾翠楽(じゅすいらく)』『応天楽』を作曲したのをはじめ、『安摩』『胡飲酒(こんじゅ)』、自らの名をとった『清上楽(せいじょうらく)』（『聖浄楽』とも）を改作するなど、尾張浜主(おわりのはまぬし)とともに当時の楽制改革に貢献した。仁明天皇が神泉苑(しんせんえん)に行幸の際船楽(ふながく)があり、船が一巡する間にとの勅命に従い篳篥師(ひちりきし)尿麿(はりまろ)と『海青楽(かいせいらく)』をつくって献じたという。838年（承和5）遣唐使として琵琶師(びわし)藤原貞敏(さだとし)らと渡唐したが、翌年8月帰国時に難船、南海の賊に殺害されたという。
