Taketoshi Kikuchi

Japanese: 菊池武敏 - きくちたけとし

?-? A military commander during the Nanboku-cho period.
Son of Kikuchi Taketoki. A member of the Kikuchi clan of Higo (Kumamoto Prefecture). He became Kamonnosuke due to his father's achievements. When Ashikaga Takauji rebelled against the Kenmu government, he raised an army based in Kikuchi Castle. In 1335, he fought against the Ashikaga forces that had fled to Kyushu at Tatarahama in Chikuzen (Fukuoka Prefecture) and was defeated, but he continued to fight against the Northern Court in various parts of Kyushu. He died at the age of 72. He was commonly known as Kuro.

菊池武時(たけとき)の子。肥後(熊本県)菊池氏の一族。父の功績で掃部助(かもんのすけ)となる。足利尊氏が建武(けんむ)政権にそむくと,菊池城を本拠に挙兵。建武2年(1335)九州にのがれた足利軍と筑前(ちくぜん)(福岡県)多々良(たたら)浜でたたかって敗れるが,その後も九州各地で北朝方と交戦。72歳で死去したという。通称は九郎。
