Japanese: トンボソウ - とんぼそう

A common terrestrial orchid (illustration) that produces small, inconspicuous yellow-green flowers in midsummer. The whole plant has a pleasant fragrance. The rhizome and tuberous roots are elongated and run horizontally, not very different from the roots of normal plants. The flower stalk is 20-40 cm long. There are usually two leaves near the base, narrowly obovate and 6-15 cm long, with the upper leaves being extremely small. In July and August, 10-20 flowers are produced, somewhat densely spaced. The flowers are yellow-green and about 4 mm in diameter. The dorsal sepals and petals are helmet-shaped, and the lateral sepals open. The lip has small lateral lobes at the base.

盛夏のころ，黄緑色の目だたない小花をつけるじみな地生ラン（イラスト）。全草にいい香りがする。根茎および塊根は伸長して横走し，通常の植物の根とあまり異ならない。花茎は20～40cm。普通，葉は基部近くに2枚あり，狭倒卵形で長さ6～15cm，上部の葉は極端に小さくなる。7～8月に，やや密に10～20花をつける。花は黄緑色で，径約4mm。背萼片と花弁はかぶと状，側蕚片は開出する。唇弁は基部に小さな側裂片がある。
