Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

Japanese: 青蔵高原 - せいぞうこうげん

The highest plateau in the world, stretching from western to southwestern China. It is also known as the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It includes the Tibet Autonomous Region, Qinghai Province, western Sichuan Province, and southwestern Gansu Province, and covers an area of approximately ^2.3 million km2. At an altitude of 3,000 to 5,000 meters, it is surrounded by the Himalayas, Kunlun Mountains, Qilian Mountains, and Hengduan Mountains, and is the source area of major rivers in Asia, including the Yangtze River, Yellow River, Mekong River, Irrawaddy River, and Salween River.

中国西部から南西部にかけて広がる世界で最も標高の高い高原。青海・チベット高原とも。チベット自治区，青海省，四川省西部，甘粛省南西部を含み，面積は約230万km²。標高3000〜5000mで，ヒマラヤ山脈，崑崙(こんろん)山脈，祁連(きれん)山脈，横断山脈に囲まれ，長江，黄河，メコン川，イラワジ川，サルウィン川などアジアの主だった河川の源流域となっている。
