Gee-Thaysen disease

Later, in 1950, Dicke of the Netherlands noticed that the incidence of this disease decreased during World War II when there was a shortage of grains such as wheat and rye in the Netherlands, and revealed that the protein gluten contained in wheat causes this disease, so it is also called gluten-induced enteropathy. Synonyms for this disease include celiac sprue, celiac disease, adult celiac disease, nontropical sprue, and idiopathic fatty diarrhea. …

…1888年にイギリスのギーS.J.Geeが，1932年にイギリスのタイセンT.E.H.Thaysenがこの疾患の臨床像を詳細に報告したためギー=タイセン病Gee‐Thaysen diseaseと呼ばれていたが，その後，50年にオランダのディッケDickeが第2次大戦中，オランダでコムギやライムギなどの穀物が不足したとき，この疾患の発生が減少したことに着目し，ムギに含まれるタンパク質グルテンがこの疾患を起こすことを明らかにしたため，グルテン惹起性腸症とも呼ばれている。セリアック･スプルー，セリアック病，成人セリアック病，非熱帯性スプルー，特発性脂肪性下痢などが同義語として用いられる。…
