In the early modern period, it was called the "Kansei Emishi Rebellion," "Kunashiri Disturbance," or "Emishi Disturbance in Year 1 of the Kansei Era," but in modern times, it is also called the "Emishi Disturbance in Year 1 of the Kansei Era," "Kansei Rebellion," "Kunashiri-Menashi Rebellion," or "Kunashiri-Menashi Region Ainu Uprising."
