The name of a god that appears in the mythology of the Kojiki. The great goddess of food. Ge means ke (food). In the section on the origin of the five grains in the Kojiki mythology, when eight million gods asked Ogetsuhime for food, she offered them various delicacies from her nose, mouth, and buttocks. Susanoo no Mikoto killed her, finding them unclean, and from each part of her corpse grew silkworms (heads), rice seeds (eyes), millet (ears), red beans (nose), wheat (genitals), and soybeans (buttocks).
