Duparc

Japanese:
Duparc
French composer. Born in Paris, he entered the Jesuit school where C. Franck was a professor. Franck became his lifelong teacher. While studying law, he devoted himself to composing, and was devoted to German music such as R. Wagner. In 1871, he participated in the founding of the Société National de Musica, centered around Saint-Saëns, and served as an officer for a while. From the end of the 1860s, he released a series of songs based on poems by Baudelaire and others, such as "Les Songs Sadaux," "Les Voyages," "Phidiles," and "Past Life," but he became ill and stopped composing in 1885. Many of his works, including the operas he worked on after that, were discarded, and only a few works remained, such as 16 songs and the symphonic poem "La Reinore" (1875). These works, which broke away from the influence of German lied and established a unique French style, are still highly regarded to this day as heralding the beginning of modern French song, which would reach its golden age with the likes of Fauré and Debussy. → Chabrier / Chausson / Dandy → Related items Norman
