Born in the first year of Tenbun. The eldest son of Okubo Tadakazu. Serving Tokugawa Ieyasu, he distinguished himself in battles such as the Ikko Ikki uprising in Mikawa (Aichi Prefecture), the Battle of Mikatagahara, and the Battle of Nagashino. In the third year of Tensho, he defeated the Takeda army and became the lord of Futamata Castle in Totomi (Shizuoka Prefecture). In the eighteenth year of Tensho, after Ieyasu entered the Kanto region, he became the lord of Odawara Castle. He was awarded 45,000 koku. He died on September 15, the third year of Bunroku.
