Kuroda-shuku

Japanese: 黒田宿 - くろだのしゅく

This was a post station on the medieval Kamakura Kaido road in Haguri County, Owari Province. It is currently part of Kisogawa-cho, Ichinomiya City, Aichi Prefecture. The place names Minami-juku and Kita-juku remain. According to the Azuma Kagami, in 1190 Minamoto no Yoritomo stayed here on his way to Kyoto, and in 1252 Shogun Imperial Prince Munetaka arrived here in the afternoon and stayed the same night in Kayazu (present-day Ama City, Aichi Prefecture). As a key transportation point at the junction with the Tosando road, it has often been the site of battles since the Nanboku-cho period, and in 1388 Toki Akinao fought and killed Shimada Mitsusada here as he was heading to his post as the guardian of Owari.

尾張国葉栗(はぐり)郡にあった中世鎌倉街道の宿駅。現，愛知県一宮市木曾川町のうち。南宿・北宿の地名が残る。《吾妻鏡》によれば，1190年源頼朝は上洛の際当地に宿泊，1252年には将軍宗尊親王が昼当地に着き同夜は萱津(かやづ)（現愛知県あま市）に宿泊したことなどがみえる。東山道との分岐点にあたる交通の要地であることから南北朝期以降しばしば合戦場となり，1388年には尾張守護として任地に向かう島田満貞を，土岐詮直が当地で迎え討っている。
