...The survey for (1) was carried out from Barcelona, ​​Spain, just east of Paris to Dunkirk on the Dover coast, and was completed by Delambre JBJ Delambre and Mechain PF A Méchain, who were plagued by the turmoil of the revolutionary period, over six years from 1792. Meanwhile, the experiment for (2) was started in 1792 by chemist AL Lavoisier and steadily progressed with the cooperation of crystallographer RJ Haüy, but was interrupted in 1794 when Lavoisier was executed.
