Elisabethville

...Population: 851,000 (1994). It is the capital of Shaba (formerly Katanga) Province, which is rich in mineral resources, and was called Elisabethville until 1966. It is located at an altitude of about 1,500m and is close to the neighboring Republic of Zambia to the south.
