A literary group. Founded in February 1929 (Showa 4) when the NALP Literature Department became independent as an affiliated group of the All-Japan Council of Proletarian Art Organizations. Its abbreviation was Sakudo, and after joining the International Revolutionary Writers League in February 1957, it became NALP. It was the most influential cultural and artistic group supporting the illegal Japanese Communist Party, and shocked the literary and intellectual worlds by raising the issue of the unity of revolution and literature through criticism, writing, and activism. Its core members included Kurahara Korehito, Kobayashi Takiji, Nakano Shigeharu, and Nakajo (Miyamoto) Yuriko. After joining COPP (Japan Proletarian Cultural Federation), it published its journal Proletarian Literature (1932.1-1933.10), but was unable to prevent the fierce oppression, the conversion of its members, and the defeatist trend, and was dissolved in February 1951.
