Roman statesman of the 1st century BC. He married his daughter to Caesar (59 BC) and was consul in 58 BC. He supported P. Clodius and was opposed to Cicero. He ruled Macedonia from 57 to 55 BC. His administration was later criticized by Cicero. He maintained neutrality during the civil war and worked to negotiate peace. He was also devoted to Epicurean philosophy. Piso |
