Electrogravimetry

...Broadly speaking, there are methods such as electrolysis, which use electrodes with a large surface area in a well-stirred solution to quantitatively complete electrolysis, such as electrogravimetry and coulometric analysis, and methods such as polarography and chronopotentiometry, which use small electrodes in a stationary solution to observe the electrolysis phenomenon that occurs only near the electrode surface.
[Electrogravimetry]
A method of analysis in which metal ions in a solution are reduced by electrolysis, quantitatively depositing them on a cathode, and the mass of the deposited metal is measured. When two or more metals coexist, a controlled potential electrolysis method is used in which the cathode potential is limited to a potential at which only the target metal is deposited.
