Abbreviation for Mac OS Licensing Design. Specifications for Mac OS compatible machines announced by Apple at the World Wide Developers Conference in 1996. It was a flexible specification that made it easy for compatible machine manufacturers to emphasize their unique features. Logic boards with this specification include the low-end Alchemy, the mid-range Catalyst and Tanzania, and the high-end Tsunami.
