[Folklore, origin of the name]
The game of hitting horse chestnuts on a string with each other to crack them is popular in England and is called "conker." This game was originally played with snail shells, and the name "conker" is said to have originated from a pun on the words "conch" (snail shell) and "conquer" (to win).
