Leo [XIII] - Leo
Pope of the Roman Catholic Church (reigned 1878-1903). Even before his accession to the throne, he showed interest in social and labor issues, and demonstrated his ability in promoting international friendship. His 1891 encyclical, Rerum Nourum, presented the issue of labor-management relations from the church's perspective.
