A noble family that inherited the position of Kiso magistrate during the Edo period. Yamamura Michisuke (Takatoki), a senior vassal of Kiso Yoshimasa, the lord of Kiso in the late Middle Ages, was appointed as Kiso magistrate by Tokugawa Ieyasu after gaining his trust in 1600 (Keicho 5). Yoshikatsu, who inherited his father's estates after Michisuke's death in 1602, was the first to take the name Jinbei, and continued to use the name until Yamamura Yoshiki at the end of the Edo period. Kiso, which was under Jinbei's jurisdiction, was granted to Tokugawa Yoshinao of Owari in 1615 (Genwa 1), but Jinbei Yoshikatsu was transferred to Yoshinao at that time, and he remained in his residence in Fukushima until the end as the de facto Kiso magistrate.
