…After the Battle of Malazgird in 1071, Sulayman entered Anatolia, occupied Nicaea, and founded the Seljuk state in Rum. During the reign of Sulayman's son Qilich Arslān I (reigned 1092-1107), Nicaea was lost in an attack by the First Crusade, and the state's capital was thereafter located in Konya in central Anatolia. Under Qilich Arslān II (reigned 1155-92), who reigned as sultan in the second half of the 12th century, the state's power expanded greatly, and it established its leading position among the Muslim Turks of Anatolia. …
