Four Han Commanderies

…This is one of the so-called "Four Commanderies of the Han Dynasty" established by Emperor Wu of Han in 108 B.C. after subjugating Wiman Joseon in 108 B.C., and is a representative example of this. In 109 B.C. (Yuanfeng 2), Emperor Wu dispatched troops to the area in response to the orders of Weiyouqu, the last king of the Wiman Joseon dynasty, and the following year, he subjugated him and established three other commanderies, bringing Korea under his direct control.
