Chintz

Japanese: chintz
Chintz

...Imitations made in Japan are called "Japanese sarasa." "Sarasa" was originally an imported word, but today it is a dyeing term used only in Japan. In English, Indian sarasa is called "chintz," Javanese sarasa is called "batik," and European sarasa is called "printed cotton." The origin of the word "sarasa" is said to be Javanese srash, Portuguese sarassa or saraça, Spanish saraza, or a corruption of Surat, a key port on the west coast of India (Komo Zatsuwa), but there is no solid evidence for any of these.
