[Private, Toshima-ku, Tokyo] [Founder] Taisho University School Corporation [Background and history] 1885 (Meiji 18), Tendai University was established. 1887 (Meiji 20), Religious University (Jodo sect) and Shingiha Daigakurin were established. 1914 (Taisho 3), private university Chizan Kan'in was established (later Chizan Senmon Gakko). 1922 (Taisho 11), volunteers from various sect leaders established Buddhist United University. 1925 (Taisho 14), Tendai University and Toyoyama University (Shingiha Daigakurin) were incorporated into Buddhist United University. 1926 (Taisho 15), Taisho University was established. 1943 (Showa 18), Chizan Senmon Gakko was merged.
