Chinese hibiscus

...The plant commonly referred to as hibiscus is actually the rose of China, but since it was originally a hybrid plant, it is highly variable, and in recent years has come to include the hybrid species in Hawaii. It also vaguely refers to the similar Hibiscus genus, and is a general term for a very complex group of horticultural species in the family Malvaceae . Rose of China, Chinese hibiscus (illustration) is a highly variable tropical shrub that generally reaches a height of 2-5m, with the entire plant being glabrous or sometimes hairy, and the leaves are broadly ovate to narrowly ovate or elliptical with pointed tips. The flowers bloom outdoors from summer to autumn, but in a greenhouse, they will bloom all year round if the temperature is high.
