Takase [town] - Takase
A former town in Mitoyo County, western Kagawa Prefecture. Located in the upper reaches of the Takase River, the town produces rice and tobacco using reservoir irrigation, as well as mandarin oranges, persimmons, and other fruits. The Yosan Line runs through the town. Tokami Park is a famous cherry blossom viewing spot. In January 2006, the town merged with the towns of Yamamoto, Mino, Toyonaka, Takuma, Nio, and Zaita in Mitoyo County to become a city. Area: 56.36 km2 . Population: 16,787 (2003).
