Latona

Japanese: Latona
Latona

In Greek mythology, she was the mother of the twin gods Apollo and Artemis. She corresponds to Latona in Roman mythology. She was the daughter of the Titans Koios and Phoibē, and was loved by Zeus and became pregnant with the twin gods. However, since no land would provide a place for the birth for fear of the wrath of Zeus' wife Hera, Leto managed to give birth to the twins on a floating island called Ortygia (meaning "village of quails").
