A bay in Khanh Hoa Province, in the south-central part of Vietnam. It is located on the South China Sea coast, about 300 km northeast of Ho Chi Minh City. The mouth of the bay is narrow, about 2 km wide, sandwiched between two small peninsulas jutting out from the north and south, but the bay is about 15 km deep and 30 km wide, allowing many ships to be anchored at any time. The water depth is 10 to 30 m. It is one of the best natural harbors in the world, along with San Francisco and Rio de Janeiro, but development was delayed due to the mountain ranges of the Annamite Mountains behind it, and the port's functions were not fully utilized until now. However, as the Vietnam War intensified in the 1960s, a large US military base was established and the bay developed rapidly, and the city of Cam Ranh on the bay coast also became urbanized. During the Russo-Japanese War in 1905, the Russian Baltic Fleet called at the bay, and during World War II, the Japanese Navy used it.

ベトナム中南部，カインホア省にある湾。ホーチミン市の東北東約 300kmの南シナ海沿岸に位置する。湾口は南北から突出した小半島にはさまれて幅約 2kmと狭いが，湾内は奥行約 15km，幅は約 30kmと広がり，常時多数の船舶の停泊が可能。水深は 10～30m。サンフランシスコ，リオデジャネイロと並ぶ世界でも指折りの天然の良港であるが，背後にアンナン山脈系の山地が迫るため開発が遅れ，従来港の機能は十分に活用されていなかった。しかし 1960年代ベトナム戦争の激化に伴って，アメリカ合衆国軍の大基地が設置されてから急速に開発され，湾岸のカムラン市の都市化も進んだ。 05年日露戦争の際，ロシアのバルチック艦隊が寄港，第2次世界大戦中は日本海軍が使用した。
