Kabuki actor. Stage name: Takashimaya. Eldest son of Ichikawa Sadanji I. Real name: Takahashi Eijiro. Excellent vocal range and a unique artistic style with bold lines. Always committed to the innovation of theater, in 1909 he founded the Jiyugekijo with Oyamauchi Kaoru and promoted the new theater movement. Since then, he has performed works by Okamoto Kido, Mayama Seika and others, opening up a new frontier in new kabuki while also reviving old plays such as the Kabuki classics "Kamenuki" and "Narukami."

歌舞伎俳優。屋号高島屋。1世市川左団次の長男。本名高橋栄次郎。音声にすぐれ，線の太い独特の芸格がある。常に演劇革新の意志をもち続け，1909年には小山内薫とともに自由劇場を創設して新劇運動を推進。以後岡本綺堂，真山青果などの作品を上演し，新歌舞伎に新生面を開くと同時に，歌舞伎十八番『毛抜』『鳴神』など古劇も復活した。
