1853‐1928 Actress of the Russian Soviet Union. She graduated from the Imperial Theater School in 1871 and became a full-time employee of the Maly Theater in Moscow. Her talent was best shown in tragic and heroic roles, and she moved the hearts of young men and women with her performances that were filled with passion amidst tranquility, particularly in classical plays that sang of resistance and rebellion against darkness, injustice, tyranny and oppression, such as AN Ostrovsky's The Thunderstorm and Schiller's The Maid of Orleans.
