...A technology that prevents corrosion of metal structures by manipulating the electrode potential of the structures in contact with an aqueous solution environment. There are cathodic protection, which achieves the purpose by lowering the electrode potential below a reference value (corrosion prevention potential), and anodic protection, which achieves the purpose by raising the electrode potential and keeping it in the passive region. Anodic protection is known to be used in the chemical industry as a corrosion prevention method for equipment that uses inorganic acids, etc.
