…A male chorus accompanied by physical performances found on the island of Bali in Indonesia. It is named after the meaningless sounds such as cha, chu, and chi that are used as material. One person controls the speed and strength by beating out a four-beat rhythm of surul-pun-pun-pun (an onomatopoeia for the gamelan gong), but there is no conductor. …
