In 1926, DJ Scourfield discovered a fossil crustacean measuring about 3 mm in length in the middle or lower Devonian strata of Rhynie, Aberdeenshire, eastern Scotland, UK. At first glance, it resembles a modern crustacean, a type of fossil called Lepidocaris rhyniensis (Branchiopoda, Anostraca).
