Japanese: 消防組 - しょうぼうぐみ

〘Noun〙 A firefighting organization established in each city, town, and village from 1870. It was under the police power and was organized by a group leader, a sub-group leader, and firefighters. In 1939 , it was merged with the protection corps to become the fire defense corps, and in 1939, it was reorganized as a fire brigade. ※Yougaku Dokushohon (Yougaku Reader) (1887) <Nishimura Tei> 4 "All the firefighters wore a hanten jacket. The hanten jacket had "bouken corps" written on it."
