One of the five Great Lakes in North America. Stretching from east to west, it is 386 km long, 91 km wide, and has a total area of 25,821 km2 . The lake surface is 174 m above sea level and has a maximum depth of 64 m. It is connected to Lake Ontario by the Niagara River, to Lake Huron by the Detroit River, and to the Hudson River by the Erie Canal. The border between Canada and the United States runs through the center.
