…He was one of the first to recognize the value of new materials that emerged from the Yin Ruins and Dunhuang in the early 20th century, and made efforts to collect and organize them. During his stay in Japan, he published many collections of materials, including “Lost Documents from the Stone Chamber of Mingsha,” “Liusha Falling Sheets,” and “Texts from the Mangluo Tomb.” In particular, the three volumes of “Yin Ruins Documents” (first, second, and third volumes) were the first illustrated collections of oracle bone scripts printed using modern printing, and together with the commentary “Yin Ruins Documents Commentary,” they laid the foundation for oracle bone studies.
