〘Noun〙 One of the government offices under the Ritsuryo system. It guarded the gates of the Imperial Palace, inspected their opening and closing, and traffic, and also managed the Hayato no Tsukasa (Office of the Hayato People) . It had a kami, a suke , two daijo, two shojo, two daisakan , two shosakan , as well as 200 kadobe (gate officers) and 30 Mononobe. Later, in 808 , the Emon-fu was merged into the Saeji-fu, and in 811 , it was renamed Saemon-fu. Many of its officials also served as kebiishi (police officers ) , and were involved in lawsuits and criminal investigations. Emon. Yugeifu . 〘名〙 令制の官司の一つ。宮城諸門を警衛し、その開閉、通行の検察をし、また隼人司(はやとのつかさ)を管した。督(かみ)、佐(すけ)、大尉(だいじょう)二人、少尉(しょうじょう)二人、大志(だいさかん)二人、少志(しょうさかん)二人のほか、門部(かどべ)二〇〇人、物部三〇人などが置かれていた。のち、大同三年(八〇八)衛門府を左右衛士府に併合し、さらに弘仁二年(八一一)これを左右衛門府と改称した。その職員は多く検非違使を兼任して、訴訟、犯罪の検断に当たった。衛門。靫負府(ゆげいふ)。〔令義解(718)〕
