Bonfigli, B. (English spelling) BonfigliB

... refers to a school of painting in the Umbria region of Italy. A new style of painting was already emerging in the late 13th and early 14th centuries, mainly in the mural decorations of the Church of San Francesco in Assisi, but the main artists were painters from Rome, Siena, and Florence. It was not until the 15th century that a style unique to Umbria that truly reflected the local characteristics began to take shape, with the production activities of Benedetto Bonfigli (c. 1420-1496) and Bartolomeo Capolari (c. 1420-1509), mainly in their native Perugia. With Perugino, the Umbrian style was established, with its firm form and gentle, sentimental expression.
