Kosai [town] - Kosai
An old town in the southwest of the Kofu Basin, Nakakoma District, Yamanashi Prefecture. Rice, peaches, grapes, and plums are cultivated, and after drainage work was completed in the wetlands, the cultivation of tomatoes, cucumbers, and other local vegetables has also become popular. A central shopping district has developed along National Route 52. In April 2003, the town merged with Hatta Village, Shirane Town, Ashiyasu Village, Wakakusa Town, and Kushigata Town to form Minami-Alps City. 16.29 km2 . Population: 13,216 (2000).

Kosei [town] [Kousei]

A former town in Koka District, southern Shiga Prefecture. The Yasu River basin in the center is an agricultural region where rice and flowers are grown, but factories and housing complexes have expanded along the Kusatsu Line and National Route 1. Zensui-ji Temple is located in Iwane. In October 2004, it merged with Ishibe Town, Koka District, to become a city, Konan City. 57.16 km2 . Population: 41,220 (2003).

甲西[町]【こうせい】

滋賀県南部,甲賀(こうか)郡の旧町。中部の野洲(やす)川流域は米作と花木栽培の農業地であるが,草津線,国道1号線沿いに工場,住宅団地が進出している。岩根に善水寺がある。2004年10月甲賀郡石部町と合併し市制,湖南市となる。57.16km2。4万1220人(2003)。
