Anti-icing system

There are two types of systems to prevent this: anti-icing systems, which prevent icing by heating, and de-icing systems, which intermittently remove the ice that has built up. For ice on the leading edge of the wing, anti-icing systems are used that direct some of the hot air compressed by the engine compressor to the leading edge, and de-icing systems that attach rubber boots to the leading edge and use high-pressure air to remove the ice.
