It refers to a tree of the legume family, mainly Acacia mollissima Willd. (English name: black wattle), or the tannin extracted from it. When the bark is boiled in hot water and the water is removed, an extract remains. The yield is 30-40%. The tannin content of the extract can reach 70-80%. The Republic of South Africa accounts for almost all of the world's wattle production.
