Obi-zome

...A ceremony in which a child removes the sash from his or her kimono and ties an obi for the first time. It is also called obi-gaoshi, obi-hajime, obi-musubi, himo-hiki, himo-gaoshi, or himo-otoshi. It is often held as a rite of passage from infant to child, and tying an obi signifies reaching a new stage of growth, and is closely related to the Shichi-Go-San celebration.
