Kurayoshi Plain - Kurayoshi Heiya

A plain in the central part of Tottori Prefecture that opens up downstream of the Tenjin River. It consists of the Hawai Plain on the east bank and the Hojo Plain on the west bank. Drowned valleys formed during interglacial and postglacial high sea levels were filled with sediment from the granite and pyroclastic rock mountains upstream, forming the lowest plain in the prefecture. The northern edge is bordered by the Hojo Sand Dunes, and in the eastern corner is the unfilled lagoon Togoike. On the surrounding hills are the Hashizu Tomb Group, which includes Umanoyama No. 4 Tomb, one of the largest keyhole-shaped tombs in Sanin, and the Takahama Ruins (Jomon, Yayoi) on the sand dunes. Before the field consolidation, there were remains of a wide area of ​​jori (grid-lined village) that still retain the name Hojo. In the Kamakura period, Matsuo Shrine's land was located in the Ugo Plain, in the Togo Manor of Kawamura County, Hoki Province, and there is still a map of Shitajichubun from 1258 (Shoka 2). The sand dunes are a production area for tobacco, Hojo grapes, and Chinese yams, and the surrounding foothills are the prefecture's largest producer of 20th century pears.

鳥取県中央部、天神川下流に開けた平野。東岸の羽合(はわい)平野と西岸の北条(ほうじょう)平野からなる。間氷期や後氷期の高海面期に形成された溺れ谷(おぼれだに)は、上流の花崗岩(かこうがん)、火山砕屑岩(さいせつがん)山地から流出した土砂に埋積され、県内でももっとも低平な平野を形成する。北縁は北条砂丘で縁どられ、東隅に埋め残しの潟湖(せきこ)東郷池がある。周辺の丘陵上に山陰最大級の前方後円墳馬ノ山4号墳を含む橋津古墳群(はしづこふんぐん)、砂丘に高浜(たかはま)遺跡（縄文、弥生(やよい)）がある。圃場(ほじょう)整理前には広範囲に条里遺構があり、北条の地名を残す。羽合平野には鎌倉時代の松尾神社社領伯耆国河村郡東郷荘(ほうきのくにかわむらごおりとうごうのしょう)があり、1258年（正嘉2）の下地中分(したじちゅうぶん)の絵図が現存する。砂丘地はタバコ、北条ブドウ、ナガイモの産地、周辺山麓(さんろく)は二十世紀ナシの県内最大の産地。
