A god who appears in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki.
He appeared when Izanagi-no-Mikoto, who had fled from the underworld, performed a purification ritual. He is a god who symbolizes "impurity" and brings misfortune. In the "Kojiki," the two gods Yasomagatsuhi-no-Kami and Omagatsuhi-no-Kami are said to have appeared.

黄泉(よみの)国から逃げかえった伊奘諾尊(いざなぎのみこと)が禊(みそぎ)をしたときあらわれた。「けがれ」を象徴し,凶事をひきおこす神。「古事記」では八十禍津日(やそまがつひの)神・大禍津日神の二神(ふたはしら)があらわれたとされる。
