[Born] Around 1098
[Died] May 15, 1164. Niece of Fulbert, a canon of Notre Dame de Paris near Nogent-sur-Seine. Around 1118, she was tutored by the famous theologian and philosopher P. Abelard, but they fell in love and secretly married and had one son. The angry relatives of Heloise separated them, and Abelard was castrated. He entered a monastery at Saint-Denis and Heloise entered a convent at Argenteuil, but when the monasteries were dissolved, Abelard founded the convent of the Paracletus and gave it to Heloise, who became its abbess. After her death, she was buried beside Abelard.
