A world-renowned academic journal on economics. It was first published in 1891 as the journal of the British Economic Association, which was established in London in 1890 through the efforts of A. Marshall and others. It is a quarterly publication. In 1902 the association received a royal charter and changed its name to the Royal Economic Society, and is known as the national economics society in the UK. When it was first published it was literally world-class, and even today, despite the dramatic increase in similar academic journals, it remains one of the world's leading purely academic specialized journals on economics.
